School Climate Improvement Project.

As a means of dramatizing the interrelationships that determine the climate of a school, a simulation experience was created for participants in this workshop on school climate improvement. A discussion of the intent of the experience includes descriptions of "good" and "poor" school environments and their impact on the school community. Directions used in the educational game are reproduced, including: (1) role-playing assignments; (2) instructions to small groups; (3) a grading sheet on effective communications within the school community; (4) an item analysis chart; (5) definitions of climate terms; (6) rules for brainstorming; (7) description of a school climate improvement task force; (8) summary of the school climate improvement process; (9) sample charge statement to a new task force; (10) organizational plan for school climate improvement; (11) sample plan of objectives, responsibilities, and activities of a task force; and (12) school climate improvement rationale.
