User Networks to Support the Implementation of New Curriculum Products.
Wargo, Sarah Dame
The Dissemination and Diffusion Section, Florida Division of Vocational Education, provides vocational educators with innovative educational materials and technical assistance on their use. Dissemination and diffusion are often aimed at the awareness/interest level, but teacher surveys and site visits have indicated that continued contact with human and material resources is needed to support instructors as they move through the implementation process. A user support network provides teachers with access to these resources. In planning for creating support networks, the dissemination and diffusion staff revisits each project after initial dissemination to talk with project participants, conduct impact assessment and/or teacher surveys, develop an inservice component, and recruit a task force for planning and coordinating activities and resources needed to support product implementation. A dissemination and diffusion plan is developed to coordinate all information. A free-standing support network with emphasis on local-level expertise and resources results. Following the six-page narrative are a dissemination and diffusion plan, an awareness packet on the employability skills support network and efforts of the task force on the series, and other materials relating to the employability skills series user support network (letters to prospective members, workshop invitation, network members training workshop agenda, newsbrief).
