Utah's school districts receive equalization aid under the state's school finance program. Funds are distributed on the basis of weighted pupil units and are allocated among a number of specific programs. This document consists of tables and graphs displaying the allocation of these funds to Utah's 40 school districts during the 1982-83 school year. The main body of the document is arranged by program, presenting each district's weighted pupil units for that program and then specifying the dollar amount allocated to the district as a result. These funds supplement those raised by local taxes for rural education, programs for the handicapped and other special students, vocational and technical education, the regular school program, special purpose optional programs, and retirement and social security costs, among others. Introductory material summarizes program revenues and expenditures at the state level. The text of Utah House Bill 159, the enabling legislation, is presented in an appendix, as are formulas for calculating the weightings used in allocating funding. (PGD)
