The seven titles deal with the following topics: (1) the teaching of reading using art as a teaching tool, (2) the effectiveness of a written cueing summary in increasing reading rate and retrieval speed in two content area subjects, (3) the effects of position and conceptual level of adjunct questions on comprehension and attitudes, (4) the effect of prereading strategies on comprehension, (5) the impact of intensive visual perceptual training on reading proficiency, (6) the use of reciprocal teaching of comprehension monitoring strategies to improve reading comprehension, and (7) instructional strategies for helping readers identify the gist in expository text.
