Some Recommended Adolescent and Adult Novels in Northeast Texas, 1980.
Irvin, Glenn; Moseley, Ann
This paper reports the results of a survey of 60 librarians and teachers in Texas as to what they felt were the most often read adolescent and adult novels, and what adolescent and adult novels they would most recommend. Following a description of the methodology for the study, the paper presents some of the subjects' comments about the distinction between adolescent and adult novels, about reading ability, and about the distinction between classic and contemporary literature. The paper then presents the results of the survey, in the form of four lists: (1) the most widely read adolescent novels, (2) the most widely read adult novels, (3) the most often recommended adolescent novels, and (4) the most often recommended adult novels.
