Building Your Population Education Collection. Booklets 1 through 5.
United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, Bangkok (Thailand). Regional Office for Education in Asia and Oceania.
These five booklets are intended to help educators at all levels in Asia and Oceania build a population-education collection or library. The first booklet outlines the steps for starting a collection: identify users, define users' materials and information needs, draft an acquisition policy, identify sources for population education materials, order and request materials, and process a book into the library. Other information contained in the first booklet includes guidelines for choosing subject headings, a population education classification scheme outline, and descriptors for population education materials. The second booklet lists recommended titles for a core collection for both in-school and out-of-school population education. Directories are listed in the third booklet. The fourth booklet describes population programs in Asia and Oceania as of November 1980. Finished, in-progress, and proposed programs are included. The fifth booklet, which is comprised of two parts, lists sources and resources for in-school and out-of-school population education. (Author/RM)
