Educational Administration: Where We Are and Where We Are Going.

This paper surveys the status and condition of educational administration today from an international perspective. It begins with a retrospective look at educational administration from its beginning in 1905 when the first doctorates were awarded up through the "Theory Movement." It then looks at the current situation in the areas of theory of educational administration, training for administrators, and research in the field. The author then offers recommended directions for educational administration from 1980-2000 regarding the need for theory development, the need for research, and the goals of training. Some specific objectives relating to international cooperation in educational administration are also offered. (JM)
