This report presents information describing the extent and effectiveness of Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Title I, Public Law 89-10 programs in Kansas during the school year 1977-1978. During the year the state educational agency distributed $12,799,697 for activities involving 38,553 students in 275 of Kansas' 306 school districts. Tables show achievement in reading and mathematics separately for regular term and summer term students; participation by grade level and by race; and staff participation. There is a summary of program operation, showing the activities of the local education agencies and the responsibilities and activities of the state education agency. Part II of the report provides similar information with respect to the programs in state institutions for neglected and delinquent children. (CTM)
