A Model for Evaluating Vocational Automobile Mechanics Programs.
Daugherty, Ronald D.; Suzuki, Warren N.
The purpose of this manual is to suggest adaptable procedures and materials that can be used by Alaska vocational educators to evaluate their automotive mechanic programs systematically. Section 1 is an introduction to the manual and to the evaluation process. The remaining six sections represent major tasks or activities that should be accomplished during an evaluation. These major tasks are (1) Implementation (or preliminary activities), (2) Student Locator (keeping track of current addresses for student follow-up study), (3) Follow-up Surveys (collecting evaluative information from former students and their employers), (4) Student Data (documenting evaluative information from follow-up surveys), (5) Student Achievement (keeping track of student attainment during the program), and (6) Program Review (documenting all evaluative data in tables--provided in the appendixes). Within each section (or within subsections) evaluation activities are presented as steps and substeps. Appendixes include a review summary form, suggested (and alternate) data displays for the program status handbook, a student follow-up survey form, an employer survey form, and Statewide Evaluation System for Vocational Education: Guidelines.
