Annual Survey of Faculty Salaries 1977-1978.
American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, Bethesda, MD.
Salary information for faculty and deans of accredited colleges of pharmacy is presented in this annual survey prepared by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. Data are based on responses collected for the academic year 1977-1978. Salary data for faculty remunerated on the calendar (11- or 12-month appointments) and the academic (9- or 10-month appointments) year basis are presented separately. Summary tables for the ranks of professor; associate professor; assistant professor; dean; assistant/associate dean; and for faculty by teaching discipline, by rank, and by appointment basis are included. Mean salaries, percentiles, and range of salaries are graphed as well as average salaries by years-in-rank. The results indicate that deans and assistant/associate deans received the largest increases. Professors' salaries increased an average of 3.8 to 7.0 percent, associate professors' 5.1 to 5.7 percent, and assistant professors' 2.9 to 5.4 percent. Deans experienced average salary increases ranging from 7.1 percent to 20.8 percent. It is noted that the number of faculty classified as assistant/associate deans increased substantially during this time period. (Author/SF)
