Guidelines for the Education of the Scientifically Creative Student: Preschool-5th Grade.
Kruger, Robert
Designed for school personnel, the booklet provides guidelines for the identification of scientifically creative preschool through fifth grade students and gives suggestions for the implementation of a creative scientific classroom. Seven general recommendations, e.g., that identification should be individualized rather than part of group testing, and four specific recommendations for assessing scientific creativity are listed. Twenty characteristics of scientifically creative elementary students are described. Suggestions for administrators, teachers, and parents in fostering the creativity of this population are reviewed. Other sections consider such areas as self improvement activities and the use of creative questioning. Examples of checklists for interviewing students and examples of appropriate materials are included. (PHR)
