Effective Vocational Training Procedures for EMR Students. Final Report.
Carter, Robert
A project was conducted to train Jefferson County, Alabama, vocational education instructors in effective teaching techniques and to develop appropriate instructional procedures for educable mentally retarded students. Vocational education areas included in the project were welding, food service, and brick masonry. The project was conducted in two major steps. In the first step a series of workshops were held for six vocational instructors and six exceptional education teachers to develop appropriate materials and procedures for lessons. Initiation of the use of materials and procedures of the project and on-going evaluation activities constituted the second step in the project. Among the accomplishments of the project were the development of skill checklists for each vocational area and teaching materials such as flash cards, games, and taped materials. (The skill checklist and teaching materials developed are appended.) (LRA)
