Affective Education: A Comprehensive Program to Promote Student Self-Actualization and Human Relations Skills.
Snyder, Thomas R.
Although designed to assist vocational, technical, and industrial arts educators in the understanding, development, and implementation of a comprehensive affective education program, this teacher's manual is adaptable to other areas and levels of education. Six chapters comprise the manual. The first four chapters introduce major strategies to deal with affective growth and development: formal structured activities, student organizations, classroom/laboratory meetings, and instructional methods. Chapter V discusses the criteria, approaches, and materials used in evaluating a comprehensive affective education program. The evaluation program is broken down into four major areas: information, behavior, attitudes, and group process. Chapter VI is designed to assist educators in assessing, developing, and implementing their comprehensive affective education program. A glossary, bibliography, models of a formal structured activity, a student organization, and a vocational curriculum, and procedures for problem solving are included. (Author/KC)
