Home Economics Education. Topic Analysis for Vocational Teacher Education.

Three papers on home economics education which were presented at a teacher education leadership conference on the development of common core curriculum for vocational education teachers are contained in this booklet. The title and authors are as follow: "Non-Degree Inservice Education Program," by Delores Allenspach; "Job Training Teaching Methods for Degreed Teachers," by Virginia Tappenden; and "Vocational Home Economics Consumer Homemaking Methods," by Shirley Slater. Each paper generally addresses six primary points of emphasis: (1) need for the proposed course, (2) objectives, (3) content, (4) instructional strategies, (5) evaluation, both formative and summative, and (6) related resources. Appended materials include some of the following: a lesson plan format, information sheets on the preparation of slides and transparencies, a job training terminology essay exam, and guidelines for competency-based module development.
