The bibliography provides a comprehensive listing of the literature of Texas educational history up to March, 1978. Objectives are to provide access to the sources and to stimulate interest and research in the field. Over 1050 books, journal articles, pamphlets, theses, and doctoral dissertations are arranged in nine subject sections: General Aspects (bibliographies and general education works), Education in Early Texas, Minorities, Religious Education, Education in the Individual Counties, Public Schools, Academies and Institutes, Colleges and Universities, and Biographies. Under each subject specific entries are listed by author. Universities and colleges listed in the seventh section are given county location so they might be cross-referenced to Section V (Education in the Individual Counties). An appendix offers brief histories of Texas Colleges nad Universities including founding dates and name changes. The document concludes with an index of authors and co-authors. (Author/CK)
