This report describes in detail the health services of three Philadelphia programs which have mandated such services (Original Follow Through, Get Set Day Care, and Prekindergarten Head Start). It also highlights the services provided in the other eight early childhood programs in the Philadelphia school district (Child Care, Durham Child Development Center, Follow Through Expansion, Impact Aid, Kindergarten, Parent Cooperative Nursery, Primary Skills, and Project Bridge). Data indicate that although the method of health service delivery may differ among the various programs, provisions have been made to ensure that children's health problems are identified, referrals made, and treatment provided whenever necessary. The findings suggest that because of a more concentrated effort on the part of the school district's division of school health services and the program health staff, a greater number of children in the early childhood programs were served in 1978 than in the previous year.
