This profile of entering freshmen at North Carolina State University for fall 1978 presents statistical data and a descriptive summary of the data. Information is presented on the following: new freshmen headcount enrollment by field of study by sex (1972-78) and by residence (in-state, national, or international); new freshmen black enrollment (1976-78); mean CHSR, SATV, SATM, and UPGA by field of study and sex (1974-78); educational level achieved by father; type of area in which freshmen lived during high school; reasons for enrolling at the college; educational goals; preferred on-campus housing arrangements; decision about major and/or career; proportion of new freshmen needing assistance in selected areas; and proportion of new freshmen who participated in selected activities during year prior to entry.
