The University of North Carolina Board of Governors. Long-Range Planning, 1978-1983.
North Carolina Univ., Chapel Hill. Board of Governors.
The long range plan for the University of North Carolina system is the third edition of a plan initiated in 1976. The revised plan incorporates new information on and changes in the system and its programs: status reports on all new degree programs and program tracks previously authorized for planning; requests for authorization to plan new degree programs or program tracks; recommendations for the discontinuation of existing degree programs or program tracks; requests for the establishment of new colleges or professional schools or proposals for major reorganizations in the structure or status of existing colleges or schools; and requests for change in the public service role of the institutions and proposals for change in the organization or performance of public service functions. This report is divided into six parts: a review of higher education in North Carolina in 1978; constraints, assumptions, and projections affecting higher education planning; goals, tasks, and objectives; instruction, research, and public service functions; student services; and future planning and program review.
