Bielinski, Stefan, Comp.
This 1977 edition contains references to all New York state history-related works which were either published, completed, or in progress during 1977. Works which presented new knowledge on any aspect of the history of New York state are included. Entries cover books, pamphlets, graduate theses, and journal and magazine articles. Reprints and revised editions of out-of-print books are included, but newspaper and newsletter features are not. All entries are categorized under 17 topics: American Revolution; archaeology; art and the arts; calendars and maps; economics; education; family history and genealogy; government, politics, and the law; local history; medicine; military history and welfare; racial, ethnic, and women's history; religion and church history; social and intellectual history; transportation; and urban studies. Each entry provides information on the title, author, publisher and address, page length, notice of illustrations and charts, and appendices or bibliographies if included. Some entries are annotated. Three sections in each category list documents published in 1977, additions to Research in Publications-1976, and those in progress in 1977. Concluding sections are an appendix of periodical literature on New York State history and an index which is the principal finding aid for the bibliography. (KC)
