This guide gives descriptions of common vertebrate pests and guidelines for using some common pesticides. The pests discussed are rats, mice, bats, moles, muskrats, ground squirrels, and gophers. Information is given for each pest on the type of damage the pest can do, the habitat and biology of the pest, and the most effective control methods. The pesticides mentioned are: (1) strychnine; (2) carbon bisulfide; (3) gas cartridge; (4) methyl bromide; (5) anticoagulants; (6) sodium nonfluoroacetate; and (7) zinc phosphide. Use, characteristics, pharmacology, and first aid information are given for each pesticide. (BB)
