A Model Prevocational Program for Hearing Impaired Students in a Public Day Class Setting at the Secondary Level.
Johnson, Harold A.; And Others
The report presents the results of a study conducted by the Memphis City Schools/Hearing Impaired Program (MCS/HIP) to determine the characteristics and needs of graduates, to investigate, describe and evaluate existing prevocational material, to visit sites currently serving hearing impaired students in an exemplary manner on the secondary level in prevocational education and learn from their successes, to investigate existing vocational sites in Memphis, and to use all the information gained to develop a prevocational course of studies for those hearing impaired students in the MCS/HIP on the secondary level. The resulting course of studies presented is meant to be a springboard to develop more sophisticated techniques and tools to serve hearing impaired students in the area of prevocational education.
