Classroom Reading Specialist Program. Year-end Report. Volume II.
Evans, Martha; And Others
As the second in a four volume final report of a Right to Read preservice, competency-based modular reading specialist project, this volume presents the module outlines for components two through six of the classroom program. Component two (readiness and beginning reading) trains the students in language development, dialect differences, language as communication, and recognizing and measuring reading readiness. Component three (comprehension) helps students consider levels of comprehension, questioning, test design, and literary appreciation. In component four (diagnosis) students administer and interpret a battery of tests and weave this information into a complete diagnostic case study. Component five (learning/study styles) concentrates on the secondary level and covers learning styles, reading, study skills and homework, motivation, and a variety of cognitive skills. Component six (the hope for the future) centers on matching student learning styles with appropriate materials and teaching strategies, and requires that the student develop a philosophy of reading for the present and for the future.
