More than 500 organizations and individuals concerned with citizen education are described. Information was collected from national foundations, state education agencies, membership lists of citizen education committees, and authorities in fields related to citizen education in order to develop a reference file of citizen education efforts. The directory lists individuals and organizations involved directly in citizen education activities and in related fields such as citizen participation, community education, conflict resolution, energy, economics, global studies, social studies, and women's studies. Data were obtained through questionnaires which requested descriptions of programs and activities. The entries are categorized alphabetically within an organizations file and a personnel file. Selected entries for each category are described in more detail. Information is given on name, address, position (if individual), officers (if organization), background, services, area served, target groups, and publications. Following the listings is a cross-reference section in which the entries are indexed by subject area, geographical area served, services, and target audiences. (Author/DB)
