A Follow-up Study of Recipients of Virginia Tuition Assistance Grants, 1977-78.
Virginia Univ., Charlottesville. Center for the Study of Higher Education.
The Tuition Assistance Grant and Loan Program (TAGLP) provides financial assistance to Virginia students attending independent colleges in Virginia. The study described in this report was designed to examine the group of students who receive financial assistance (in the form of grants) under the TAGLP, and to determine the impact of the Tuition Assistance Grants on the college decision-making of grant recipients. The report provides an overview of TAGLP, and describes the study methodology. The findings indicate that for approximately 41 percnt of the respondents, the availability of the Tuition Assistance Grants had some relationship to their decision to enroll at the private institution they were currently attending. The appendices contain 22 statistical tables and a copy of the questionnaire distributed to grant recipients. (SPG)
