Changes in Attitude Toward the Education of the American Indian as Shown by Government Documents: A Selected and Annotated Bibliography.
Rice, Margaret
Attitudes toward the education of the American Indian have undergone a complete change since the beginning of the Republic, from a desire to remove their native culture, to a desire to preserve it. This annotated, selected bibliography of government documents reflects these attitudinal changes on the part of Congress, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and other governmental agencies from the 19th century on. Listed chronologically, entries include Congressional Hearings, Reports, miscellaneous documents, Bureau of Indian Affairs manuals, Indian Policy Review Commission's Task Force Five. (Author/MBR)
