Introduction to Environmental Science. Programmed Learning Aid Series.
Foster, Phillips W.
There are six major sections in this text designed for supplementary self-study in an introductory college environmental science course. The sections (historical perspectives, man's disruption of his environment, ecosystems--especially the biosphere, population growth and urbanization, the various costs of environmental decay, and environmental trade-offs and public policy) contain a number of text passages of one and two pages, followed by a set of related diagnostic questions. Students are referred to annotated answers to these questions and are expected to review material that they do not understand before proceeding to the next passage. There are three review tests (each with answers), a glossary of terms, and an index. (AL)
