This Oceanographic Information Kit consists of seven booklets which discuss career opportunities and related information in oceanography as follows: a general overview of the nature of oceanography and the study necessary in preparing for a career in this field; oceanographic employment opportunities possible with the federal government described by the various government agencies involved in marine activities; descriptions of employment possibilities from a diverse sample of private industries, with reference to three directories listing other ocean-associated industries; the kind of employment with universities, indicated by a description of four college programs; a reading list of nearly 300 entries grouped into three approximate reading level categories, including elementary (up to junior high level), secondary (high school and lower college), and adult level with many technical books; a list (up-dated through the fall of 1971) of colleges offering oceanography curricula, including names of programs, degree(s) offered and offices to contact for more information; and a list of other information sources (private organizations, government agencies, and periodicals).
