"Eskimo Boy Today" provides the reader with an account of what it is like to be a young Eskimo boy living in Barrow, Alaska, today. Accounts of his life at school depict the typical curriculum and learning activities, while accounts of his home life depict typical foods, clothing, and housing. The natural resources and their relationship to the Eskimo are discussed, as is the adaptation to modern household conveniences. The methods of transportation serving the village, from motor-driven boats to the jet, are discussed as are the methods of hunting and fishing. The use and preparation of fish and animals taken in the hunt are described by narrative and by photographs. The story concludes with some of the native games, stories, and dances. (LS)
