Dialogue Africain Contemporain: Level 1 (French in an African Setting).
Sparkman, Lee S.; And Others
This text provides 14 units of instructional materials for a multimedia course in contemporary, standard French as it is spoken in the emerging nations of West and Central Africa. Patterned directly after the series "Voix et Images de France," this course is intended for beginning students or as supplementary material for cross-cultural study in other French courses. It presents the basic vocabulary and grammar of "Le Francais Fondamental." Lessons, focusing on the daily activities and on the life styles of Africans, contain: (1) focus statements, (2) sketches and "mecanismes," (3) cultural notes, and (4) "lectures." Projects are suggested in each unit. A section on the countries of West and Central Africa is appended. (RL)
