This document summarizes the background of the Dade County Quinmester Extended School Year Program involving five high schools in a pilot project. The program resulted from a study of alternative plant utilization plans for the most efficient use of school facilities to reduce the need for capital expenditure during the next five years. Discussed are (1) fiscal implications, including an analysis of projected costs; (2) evaluation plan; (3) plans to review administrative procedures and practices; and (4) specific recommendations concerning the future development of the quinmester program.
