The research conducted by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies of the American Rehabilitation Foundation is summarized. The first phase of this study is divided into three parts: (1) an examination of all functions that might be engaged in by an information and referral center, (2) an examination of the potential role of an information and referral center to support the process of planning services for the aged population and (3) an integration of the results of the analysis of services and planning as related to information and referral centers into a single model.
