Interpretive Study of Research and Development in Elementary School Mathematics: Phase 2, Final Report.
Suydam, Marilyn N.
The Interpretive Study of Research and Development in Elementary School Mathematics was designed to attack the problem of applying research in the classroom by providing a compilation of the research and a synthesis of the findings. The purpose of Phase II of the Study was to develop materials which could be readily used and disseminated. A set of eleven bulletins and a set of five films were developed for use by college teachers of courses on the teaching of elementary school mathematics. This report concentrates on the development, dissemination, and evaluation of these bulletins and films. Copies of all the bulletins and scripts used for all the films are included in the appendices bound with the report. One conclusion drawn from the reactions of those receiving the developed materials is that there is a continuing need to provide a readable, readily available source of information on research related to teaching and learning elementary school mathematics.
