This conference report contains introductory papers to specific problems with edited reports of the ensuing discussion. Papers focus on the preparation of teachers of adults in foreign languages and in English as a second language; technology in teacher training; specialized training for teachers of immigrant children; the role of linguistics in teacher training; and inservice courses.
