This is a description of an introductory Spanish and Spanish American literature course at the University of Akron. Its major feature is the grouping of 100 plays, novels, and collections of short stories by the students into a 7-point difficulty-interest scale. Inclass procedure is explained and suggested methods for assigning reading materials are included. Also presented is the audio-lingual rationale for using class recitation and discussion of reading.
