To determine San Mateo Junior College District's 1969-70 needs for additional instructors and the number of student-contact hours to be assigned to each, a survey was made of the district's practices during the preceding two years. The report is based on the assumption that the number of student-contact hours should vary by subject in each of the instructional divisions. Tables show the number of student-contact hours for each subject, the number of faculty teaching full-time, and the number of weekly student-contact hours for each full-time faculty member at the district's two colleges: San Mateo and Canada. With a new junior college opening in the autumn of 1969, faculty needs were tabulated on the basis of anticipated student enrollments at the three colleges, student transfers to the new college, and faculty transfers to the new college.
