SIX CULTURES (FRENCH, GERMAN, HISPANIC, ITALIAN, LUSO-BRAZILIAN, RUSSIAN). SELECTIVE AND ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHIES.
WYLIE, LAURENCE; AND OTHERS
BOOKLISTS WERE PREPARED FOR COUNTRIES WHOSE LANGUAGES ARE FREQUENTLY TAUGHT IN THE UNITED STATES. THESE BIBLIOGRAPHIES WERE PREPARED PRIMARILY FOR LANGUAGE TEACHERS, BUT COULD ALSO BE USED BY PERSONS INTERESTED IN THE COUNTRY'S CULTURE. THE MODERN LANGUAGE ASSOCIATION (MLA) REQUESTED KNOWLEDGEABLE PERSONS TO SUBMIT LISTS OF RECOMMENDED BOOKS, WHICH WERE REVIEWED AND EVALUATED BY SPECIALISTS FOR THE FINAL SELECTION. ITEMS SELECTED MET THE CRITERIA OF--(1) BEING READILY ACCESSIBLE, (2) NOT BEING A STANDARD REFERENCE BOOK, (3) NOT BEING A PERIODICAL OR SERIES, AND (4) BEING INFORMATIVE AND ENJOYABLE. INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPHS TO EACH BIBLIOGRAPHY SECTION WERE INCLUDED WITH SOURCE REFERENCES. REPORTS IN THIS SERIES ARE ED 003 940 THROUGH ED 003 960. (RS)
