Improving Early Numeracy of Young Children with Special Education Needs.
Van Luit, Johannes E. H.; Schopman, Esther A.
Remedial and Special Education, v21 n1 p27-40 Jan-Feb 2000
Sixty-two students from special needs kindergartens were given early mathematics intervention. The early numeracy program was developed for children with disabilities and early numeracy difficulties by basing instruction on perceptual gestalt theory. Children performed better at posttest than controls but failed to transfer their knowledge to novel math problems. (Contains extensive references.) (Author/CR)
