Untangling Web 2.0: Charting Web 2.0 Tools, the NCSS Guidelines for Effective Use of Technology, and Bloom's Taxonomy
Diacopoulos, Mark M.
Social Studies, v106 n4 p139-148 2015
The potential for social studies to embrace instructional technology and Web 2.0 applications has become a growing trend in recent social studies research. As part of an ongoing process of collaborative enquiry between an instructional specialist and social studies teachers in a Professional Learning Community, a table of Web 2.0 applications was produced. This table charted Web 2.0 applications alongside the NCSS standards and Bloom's revised taxonomy which highlight higher order thinking skills. Social studies teachers used this table to select an application to trial in their classrooms. The experiences of these teachers and lessons learned can prove useful to other teachers looking to integrate Web 2.0 into their instruction.
