Pupil Insights into Bullying, and Coping with Bullying: A Bi-National Study in Japan and England.
Kanetsuna, Tomoyuki; Smith, Peter K.
Journal of School Violence, v1 n3 p5-29 2002
Investigated children's perceptions of bullying and coping with bullying in Japan and England. Surveys of secondary school students indicated that respondents had definite ideas about the best coping strategies for different types of bullying. They considered problem-focused coping skills more useful than emotional-focused skills. Most victims and witnesses of bullying took no action out of fear of retaliation. Types of bullying differed by country. (SM)
