Use of "t"-Test and ANOVA in Career-Technical Education Research

Use of t-tests and analysis of variance (ANOVA) procedures in published research from three scholarly journals in career and technical education (CTE) during a recent 5-year period was examined. Information on post hoc analyses, reporting of effect size, alpha adjustments to account for multiple tests, power, and examination of assumptions underlying these tests were collected for each eligible study. Approximately one-fourth of all articles published during the analysis period used a t-test or ANOVA for all or part of the analysis. However, much of the information either required or recommended for inclusion in reporting the results of these inferential statistics was not addressed. Discussion and recommendations for practice are examined. (Contains 1 table.)
