Curriculum Unit: Kenya and Tanzania, Tourist Economies.
Lynn, Karen
This curriculum guide is designed to enable teachers and ninth grade students to develop a clearer understanding of the countries of Kenya and Tanzania and the economic needs of their citizens. A pretest-posttest examination with 20 true or false questions, 2 essay questions, and a list of 50 vocabulary words is provided. Brief descriptions of the physical environment, economy and history, chronology, and a discussion of the tourist industry (the number one industry in both countries) and its effect on the traditional cultures give background information for teachers to use in the classroom. A list of the national parks of Kenya and Tanzania and poems on African life are included. A reference list of videotapes, publications, schools in Kenya, poetry, and publishers concludes the guide.
