Conducting a Rural School District Transition Fair: Successes and Challenges for Students with Disabilities
Baugher, Robin; Nichols, Joe
Education, v129 n2 p216-223 Win 2008
Concerned that their special education students were not being adequately prepared for the post-high school world, a rural Arkansas school district made a concerted effort to provide a systematic transition program in which opportunities for life after graduation could become a meaningful reality. A significant component of the transition program was to host a transition fair in which potential employers and special education students could engage each other and discuss post-high school opportunities that existed within the rural community or within reasonable proximity of the town in which the students resided.
