This is the ninth in a series of articles entitled "The Legacy Project." The Legacy Project focuses on the lives and actions of leaders who have forged our profession into what it is today. Members of the profession owe a debt of gratitude to these leaders. One simple way to demonstrate that gratitude is to recognize these leaders and some of their accomplishments. The focus in this issue will be on Franklin Owens. This article offers an interview with Owens and covers topics such as his motivation to become one of the strongest supporters of technology, science, and engineering education programs in Washington, DC, his work for NASA's educational programs, how he involved technology educators over the years as he was advancing NASA initiatives, the need for the Technology for All Americans Project, and finally successes at NASA, other than the technological literacy standards, that changed the way we look at education.
