Exploring Multiplication: Three-in-a-Row Lucky Numbers
Russo, James A.
Teaching Children Mathematics, v24 n6 p378-383 Apr 2018
Three-in-a-Row Lucky Numbers is an engaging, enjoyable, mathematically meaningful, game-based activity involving dice and a hundred chart, which can be used to introduce students to multiplication. The game provides a mechanism for students to explore the structure of multiplication, experiment with the distributive property, and begin to investigate prime numbers using both "groups of" and array representations. Three-in-a-Row Lucky Numbers is designed for two to four players.
