Interviews of (n=96) high school students from Canada, the United States, and Australia on their views of scientific facts, theories, and laws revealed two relatively vague views of the nature of science, with American students holding to a mechanistic, traditional scientific method. Compared the science attitudes of tenth-grade students from British Columbia, Canada, in 1986 with those from tenth-grade students in 1989 after a three-year science-technology-society instructional period.
