A sample of a longitudinal study consisted of 95 pupils and their parents interviewed when children were 11-12 and 16-17. Analysis of variance showed four homogeneous groups in regard to child's mastery of learning and family's related modes of activity in learning. (Author/LMO)

Nineteen children with motor problems were selected from a sample of 331 third-graders taking Gubbay's Test of Motor Proficiency and a battery of achievement tests. Teachers' ratings of clumsiness had low correlation with criteria of clumsiness derived from performance tests. Frequency of learning disabilities was high. (Author/LMO)

Using data on 1,438 Reykjavik children, this paper analyzes the influence of social origins, family characteristics, and IQ on scholastic performance in sixth, eighth, and ninth grades. A Norwegian version of the Achievement Motives Scale (AMS) was administered to Oslo sixth-graders, along with verbal, numeric, test anxiety, and lie/defensiveness tests. Standardized mathematics test results of a twin sample during grades 3 and 6 were interpreted according to an interactional heredity x environment model. Results indicated that similar school instruction made monozygotic twins more alike but dizygotic twins less alike in mathematics knowledge. Social background effects were also studied. (SJL)
