Shared Reading, the Pupil, and the Teacher
Ediger, Marlow
Reading Improvement, v48 n2 p55-58 Sum 2011
Pupil/teacher interaction provides opportunities for many kinds of learning experiences. Within the reading curriculum, there are a plethora of activities in oral communication and working together harmoniously. Thus from every day experiences, the teacher may communicate verbally what he/she has read in an interesting, informative manner on the pupil's developmental level. This broadens the knowledge repertoire of children in the classroom. Pupils, too, may share content read with others learners. Ongoing standards might well be developed in sharing ideas gleaned from reading. Teachers need to be on the lookout for materials in securing and maintaining pupil interest in shared reading.
