Grounding Adult Education in Radical Guyanese and Caribbean Pedagogy
Cuffy, Robert
New Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, n164 p83-94 Win 2019
The evolution of education in postcolonial Guyana was closely tied to the state through the socialist government's policy of Free Education from Nursery to University. Walter Rodney, a product of the colonial education system and a revolutionary scholar was able to both critique the shortcomings of the existing system while creating a critical pedagogy which could serve as a radical alternative. This chapter examines possibilities for adult education grounded in Rodney's vision.
