Compares the results of two surveys of the same group of Black respondents, taken in 1969, when respondents were in college, and in 1978, when most respondents had entered middle-class occupations. Reviews the author's experiences with white students during courses taught by him in Afro-American history at Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio, between 1969 and 1972.
