The Need for Multiculturalism in the Classroom as Perceived by Mexican American Schoolchildren.

Interviewed Mexican American and white students in eighth and eleventh grades to determine how they defined multiculturalism in their classrooms. Results indicated that respondents defined multiculturalism in the classroom using similar concepts as educators and scholars. Mexican American students, particularly younger ones, considered their classrooms less responsive to their culture than did white students. (SM)
